Climbing in Family Trees

Been working with Family Trees, the new web offshoot of Familysearch.org  Shows some real promise — graphic, visual, lets you post ancestor  photos  etc.  If only I could do something about the Miracle Mom, Jane Holland.

Jane, you see, is shown as my 4G Grandmother, the mother of William Louis Boulden.  I call her the Miracle Mom, because according to the data shown, she was born and died in England, but somehow managed to raise a family in Maryland or Delaware.  Data shows she was born in 1808, yet gave birth to little WLB in 1792.  Is that miraculous, or what?  See for yourself…

First time she showed up, earlier this year, I called the nice folks at FamilySearch and they agreed to take her off our charts.  Then a week or two later, she reappeared.  Since then, I’ve tried other ways to banish her, but she always comes back.  Suspect I’m in a ping-pong game with another genealogist:  I take her off, he puts her on.  Over and over again.

Oh well.  Every family has a black sheep or two.  I’m a lucky man, because I have a miracle mom.  And I’ve got to keep focused on the good things about Family Trees, and not let this ping-pong battle over Jane Holland sour me on the whole experience.
