William Barton Boulden moved his family from Castle Dale to Cedar View, Utah when my father, Bernard, was six weeks old. It was a difficult journey, with several small children, in the frigid January of 1917. They traveled by horse-drawn wagon and lived in a tent during the 18-day journey and after they arrived. When the children would be frightened or hungry or cold, Grandpa B would sing to them. Many stories thru the years have commented on his beautiful voice, a lovely Irish tenor. He liked to sing old Irish love ballads like Kathleen Mavourneen and I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen.
Aunt Wini fondly recalls her Dad and Mother’s favorite song was “Lay My Head Beneath The Rose”
